The date that had travellers double-checking their paperwork — July 1, 2026 — arrived without a new requirement. Vietnam's Ministry of Health clarified on June 30 that the border health declaration created by Decree 165/2026/ND-CP is not automatic: it applies only if officials decide that infectious diseases active elsewhere could reach Vietnam via travellers, weighed by severity and likelihood.
For Irish passport holders the entry picture is unchanged — the eVisa handles the trip, and the Vietnam Arrival Card, a separate immigration formality, continues at the airports where it is deployed. Nothing health-related joins the list today.
Two practical notes: the unofficial declaration website in circulation is not the official site, whatever it may claim — the ministry says so directly. And if the requirement is ever triggered, expect a bilingual form, electronic or paper, submitted within seven days of your border crossing.
